Cut & Performance
The Art and Science of Diamond Cutting
A diamond's beauty is determined not just by what nature created but by how human hands reveal that beauty through cutting. The difference between a poorly cut diamond and an expertly cut one can be dramatic—even with identical color and clarity.
Cut quality determines how light interacts with a diamond: how it enters, reflects internally, and returns to your eye as brilliance, fire, and scintillation. For fancy color diamonds, cutting also dramatically affects color saturation—the same rough diamond can grade Fancy Light or Fancy Intense depending on how it's cut.
At RARE.DIAMONDS, we apply five generations of cutting expertise to ensure every diamond in our collection delivers exceptional light performance and, for colored diamonds, optimal color return.
Brian's Performance Note
Cut is the engine of beauty. When proportions, optical symmetry, and polish align, you get the trifecta—brilliance, fire, scintillation—that performs in real life, not just under showcase lighting. That's the standard we demand at RARE.DIAMONDS.
